ΠΕΡΙΓΡΑΦΗ
The architecture of the study comes as a combination of two basic concepts: the museum as an open, transparent and unified space and the connection of the museum to the nearby archaeological site in a direct and functional manner.
Generally the form of the existing building is preserved, with the two volumes (upper and lower) divided by the transparent stripe of the pilotis.
This way, the floors and the central atrium are maintained, while a corridor at the level of the archaeological site runs through the building centrally, unifying the building with the site and the urban network.
On the outside, the building is surrounded by a shell made by marble shutters allowing randomly light penetration. Glass panels and a metal mesh curtain come as a secondary shell. The zone of the pilotis gives to the building a dark lining, with glass panels and a corten box placed in a recessed position.
The architecture of the "square of the lion" is simple, including a longitudinal water lake/cascade on whose both sides resting spaces are placed.
Plantation is discreet and harmoniously ligned in the landscape.
This space consists of two floors while its roof is planted creating a public park unified with the rest landscape.
