DESCRIPTION
Τhis single family was designed in a narrow site which determined the form of the final design. More particularly due to restrictions in the north and south side of the site a strip of land was left to develop 160m² in two levels. A linear solution was chosen for the plan of the ground floor,in which are situated daily spaces (living room and kitchen) & three bedrooms with two bathrooms and storage. On the second floor, a 40m² suite is constructed with the form of a black box, hovering slightly from the structure underneath.
In order to shade and to protect the ground floor, a series of wooden blinds has been added embodying the bedroom and the corridor doors in the front and the back side accordingly. In front of the living room the blinds are lifted when the house is in use creating a horizontal pergola enabling outdoor use. When the house is not in use the blinds create a uniform shell closing the “box” restoring its minimal form.
On the top floor, the second box rests on its concrete base creating a contrast with its dark color . Apart from the suite ,the verandas are used with the use of two pergolas which provide protection from the sun of Attiki.
A small pool is created in the yard accompanied by a long deck that lines up the front side of the house.
